Overview

This page is intended for use by any editor creating or compiling articles for KDHX.org.

All applicable items on this page should be verified and re-verified prior to publication.

Pre-Joomla

Spell-check all text and double-check spellings of all names and of all facts.

Any text written in MS Word or Google Docs or whatever should be run through the Convert Microsoft Word to Plain Text, a script that converts text copied from MS Word into plain text.

Format text cleanly into a plain text document (see example).

- Never paste in text that is copied from Word, Google Docs, Pages, RTF (rich text format), or any document that is not simple plain text.

Copy and use only the text, with no extra line breaks at the top or bottom.

Working in Joomla

Insert all text using the plain text icon. - (ref. Pasting your text into the Editor windows)

Verify the following:

- Metadata Description and Keywords. - (ref. Metadata Information)
- AP style
- short version - (ref. AP style quick reminders)
- full version - (ref. KDHX online writing style)
- Headline format - (ref. Headlines)

Introtext/Lede (40 words or less)

Proper paragraphing for lede and body text; reminder that our content editor/WYSIWYG does not show paragraph breaks.

Good quality image from an official source, cropped to the right size (600x400 for most articles)

Embed video at correct size: 516 width for most pages; 400 for Inside KDHX pages.

Image credit and/or caption: nameofsite.com or Photographer Name (if you know it) / nameofsite.com or just Photographer Name if from KDHX or an official site.

Tags (these are words that are relevant to the article: genre, subject, major artists mentioned etc.)

Proper linking for important words or phrases, using converted URLs for internal KDHX links

Proper semantic linking (do not just paste in a raw URL to your text)

Proper attribution for outside source material. See examples from Charting the Music instructions.

Preview work before publishing: If you have Manager or higher privileges, save your draft as Special and as Published. Then log in to the front end of KDHX.org, find our article, review it for any errors; then you can return to the content editor window, make any final changes, and then save as Public and as Published.
