Editing
Using Protools
- Create new Protools session titled: Year-Month-Day (that the show originally aired) [acronym for show name] for PRX
- IN STUDIO ONLY Click go, connect to server, select server 2, password is kdhxfm88. Select on air recordings. Click on the [show name] folder and drag the files dated for the show you will be working on to the desktop.
- Drag the audio files from the desktop into the audio folder of the project you are working on, and then into the protools session, place each segment into a separate track
- Duplicate the tracks. Use command + E to separate talk segments from musical works. Use markers to mark each segment. Name them in the manner that works for you.
- Listen to each segment for non-evergreen content, and edit out that content.
- After completing 5 or 6 episodes, determine what needs to be re-recorded and write up a script with that information. #Schedule a recording session and make sure to ask for filler music and instrumentals.
- Name the recorded takes as best suits you, drag needed files into the audio files folder and begin editing them into the episodes where deemed necessary or appropriate after duplicating the tracks.
- Each part should be roughly 19 minutes long, with each hour being roughly 57 minutes. Add filler music where needed.
- Create 5 one minute (EXACTLY 60 SECONDS) instrumental beds from the instrumentals provided by the host.
