Overview
This guide details the procedure for airing messages at the top of hour for ALL KDHX programs.
- We're using the State Change function of our Wide Orbit Automation System to make certain that grouped spots and other pre-recorded content play automatically.
- In particular, this is used on Underwriting tags that are sporadically scheduled to immediately follow our daily calendars and sponsored features.
- Just as with every promo and calendar item, we use the W/O Next green button to trigger this state changing type of item in the log. It will have the word AUTO in bold letters on it, and will trigger a change from Manual operation mode, in which we're triggering each item with the button, to Automatic mode, where the system just plays whatever it has in line until it either runs out of material, or is reverted back to Manual mode.
The Process
- After you've completed the live read, press the green button to advance that item in the stack, essentially cueing up the next item: AUTO.
- At the scheduled time (either one minute or 3:00 before the hour), press the green button to trigger the item "AUTO"
- Notice the time countdown area of the display now shows the word "AUTOMATIC" under the time
- Each item plays automatically until the system reverts back to Manual Mode.
Tips and Reminders:
- The state change from AUTO to MANUAL and back to AUTO etc, can be performed by touching the countdown area, where the word Automatic or Manual and the remain time is displayed.
- We lose revenue at each instance a spot is missed or fired late. Please consider on-time playout of Underwriting messaging as important as the fund-raising we do during drive. Both are critical to our vitality.
- Problems with Underwriting messaging playout are to be considered an emergency. Please e-mail underwriting@kdhx.org to report missed or late airings immediately. It is critical that this happen right away, as we may be able to re-scheduled and recover the loss within that hour of your program, or reschedule for later that same day.
