Social Media Guidelines

As a KDHX producer, Social Media is a great way for you to connect and interact with your audience.

A Facebook show page is for promoting your show, and KDHX, expanding listenership, engaging and building audience.

Facebook Show Page

Your show page should be a public page about your radio program, not a personal account. Followers “like” and “follow” the page, they do not request to be friends* with you.

  • Name: must include your show name. [Show Name] on KDHX, kdhx.org, or 88.1 KDHX
  • About Section: Your show description, day, time, etc. goes here. List kdhx.org as your website.
  • Photo: You may use whatever you’d like for your cover photo and profile pic. If desired, be sure to request the use of the KDHX logo with your staff supervisor
  • Category: you may designate your page to be “community”, “radio station”, “nonprofit”


Friends on Facebook are managed differently by everyone, so the choice of friending a listener is yours.
However, as a public figure, KDHX respects and recommends a certain amount of anonymity be applied in public and social media contexts for a volunteer's own safety.

Accounts on Instagram, Twitter, or other Social Platforms

A show account on other social platforms is permissable, and should follow the guidelines above and below as best apply to the chosen platform.
Discuss questions with your staff supervisor or the Chief Media Officer.

Appropriate Content

  • Posts linking to articles relevant to your show’s content
  • Playlist informationKDHX content: in-studio performances (YouTube or Soundcloud), kdhx.org articles
  • KDHX event pages
  • Event pages for shows coming to town relevant to your audience at other venues
  • Any music content that relates to your show


Inappropriate Content:

  • Grievances against KDHX
  • Self-promotion
  • Politics
  • Name-calling


Tips:

  • Stay positive
  • Focus on the music
  • Avoid arguments (good-natured musical discussions are great, though!)

Remember that followers are interested in your KDHX show and that should be the focus of this page, not you as a person or whatever other hobbies and interests you might want to promote.
